| | | The X-Files is the science-fiction supernatural television series created by Chris Carter (Millennium, Harsh Realm) that starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully - FBI agents who were placed in a special unofficial assignment known as the 'X-Files', in which they investigate cases associated with the paranormal. Mulder, a true believer, had high interest in such cases, most particularly (and personally) those involving evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial life. Concurrently, the cases also included other strange and unexplained phenomenon, with Mulder purporting generally wild theories. Scully - a doctor, scientist and skeptic - was originally to scrutinize and dismiss said findings and find more logical conclusions. In time, both learn to trust each other in their mutual search for the truth even as they clash with an insidious, far-reaching conspiracy meant to deny and cover up much of these acts. Late in the series, they are joined in their investigations by agents John Doggett (Robert Patrick) and Monica Reyes (Annabeth Gish). The series also stars Mitch Pileggi, Nicholas Lea, and William B. Davis. |

| |
|
| | The X-Files aired 202 episodes over 9 seasons on the FOX network from 1993 to 2002, making it the longest-running North American science-fiction television series until surpassed by Stargate SG-1. It was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia for its first five seasons before moving production to Los Angeles, CA for its final four seasons. The show became a cult hit that would influence (directly and indirectly) several later shows, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fringe, Supernatural, and others. The X-Files is also notable for being one the earliest TV shows to have a strong internet presence (this in the considerably less popular, less saturated and more rudimentary early days of the internet). The series would also spawn two feature films: 1998's The X-Files: Fight the Future and 2008's The X-Files: I Want To Believe, as well as the 2001 spin-off series, The Lone Gunmen. The series Millennium (also created by Carter) was also set in this universe. Nearly a decade after the second film, The X-Files would return to television, first as a six-episode miniseries, which premiered on January 24th, 2016, which is officially listed as 'Season 10', then as a full 10 episode season as 'Season 11', beginning in January of 2018. |

| |
| | |
| For the first half of the first season, FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) uses an older model Taurus PT92 9mm. Also in S4E17 an airforce traffic controller used an older model PT92AFS to commit suicide.

| ==Walther PPK==
| |
| | |
| For the entire first season, FBI Special Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) carries a compact pistol that appears to be either a Walther PPK, or otherwise some type of PPK clone (Maybe a SIG-sauer P230 or P232?). The pistol seen in the first screen cap is one that she took from an enemy agent, in the other screen cap you can see the slide mounted safety.
| |
| | |
| Also Fox Mulder can be seen carrying a Walther PPK as a back up pistol to his main sidearm, kept in an ankle holster.
| |
| | |
| It is also worth noting in Season 8 episode 11 titled "The Gift" flashbacks are shown of Fox Mulder using his PPK to shoot and attempt to kill a soul eater who cured him of a terminal disease, to relieve it of it's suffering.
| |
| After which Agent Dogget discovers the Walther taped under Mulder's bathroom sink in it's holster.

| == SIG-Sauer P226 ==
| |
| | |
| Beginning with the first episode of Season 2, Mulder starts using a SIG-Sauer P226, which becomes his sidearm for almost the entire show afterwards (with the exception of Season 3). Many of the other FBI Agents throughout the show, including Agent John Doggett (Robert Patrick) also use P226s.

| | |
| Beginning with Season 2, Scully starts using a SIG-Sauer P228, which subsequently becomes her sidearm for the entire show (Season 3 notwithstanding). Alex Krycek (Nicholas Lea) and some of the other FBI Agents on the show are also seen using them.
| |
| | |
| Scully appears to be using the P225 in season 5. you can clearly see the squared trigger guard in the second screencap.

| ==Smith & Wesson 5906==
| |
| | |
| Although they use SIG-Sauer pistols in Season 2, both Mulder and Scully switch to using Smith & Wesson 5906s as their sidearms for all of Season 3. After this season, they resume using their respective SIG pistols (P226 for Mulder, P228 for Scully).

| | |
| Several episodes in Season 1 feature appearances of Colt Model 733 "Commandos", usually in the hands of military personnel and SWAT officers. There's a great close-up of this gun in the second episode, "Deep Throat".

| == Colt AR15 Sporter-1 (SP1) ==
| |
| | |
| There are many episodes, especially in the early seasons, where U.S. military personnel are armed with civilian Colt AR15 Sporter-1s with M16A2-style hand guards, standing in for the real M16A2 service rifles that the soldiers should be using. You can tell because the receivers of the guns don't have the "fencing" around the magazine release, plus they lack the A2-style rear sights, shell deflectors, and forward assists.
| |
| | |
| :They are not M16A1s. They are very early-model civilian AR15 SP1s which, unlike MoviePropMaster's gun, don't have the forward assist and probably aren't even converted to fire auto. The reason why they're using these is because the budget for this show was probably so low that the property master figured there was no reason to give them transferable full-auto M16s, which would cost more to rent and require paying a licensed armorer to be present on-set, when they could have something that looks almost identical and wouldn't be noticeable to a casual observer.

| ==Norinco Type 84S==
| |
| | |
| The Norinco Type 84S can be seen in limited numbers (two rifles being seen) in the hands of the Russian guards at the Tunguska gulag in the episode "Terma". In the episode "Patient X" when a unit of Russian soliders led by Alex Krycek encountered a UN military force at a UFO abduction site in Kazakhstan, two Russian soldiers were seen armed with AK rifles while the rest of the unit were armed with clubs/nightsticks. There is a possibility that there were not many AK rifles available in Vancouver during the mid-1990s, which could explain why only two soldiers/gulag guards were armed with rifles while the others were armed with nightsticks. Also, it makes little sense that Russian soldiers would use the Chinese Type 84.

| |
| There is also a recurring appearance of a folding-stock Type 84 that has a long RPK-style barrel. It appears several times in the 4th and 5th seasons, most prominently in the episode "Folie A Deux" where it is used by a hostage-taker. This is known as the Type 84S Match variant.

| ==Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun==
| |
| | |
| There are lots of Heckler & Koch MP5A3 submachine guns in many episodes. Some of the non-firing MP5s appear to be Tokyo Marui spring-powered airsoft guns, though of course real MP5s are used in firing scenes. In one episode, Scully wields an MP5A3 with a Surefire forearm during a scene where she and Mulder participate in an FBI takedown of a militia group.

| |
| | |
| In the first episode of Season 2, "Little Green Men", Mulder and Scully are chased away from the Arecibo radio telescope site in Puerto Rico by a Blue Beret Crash Retrieval Unit. The Blue Berets are armed with a number of weapons that were considered "futuristic" back in the mid-1990s when the episode was made, including a Steyr AUG, a Calico M955A with a laser sight, and at least two Mossberg 500 Bullpup shotguns.
