The 1895,when fired,launched a lever from the bottom while cycling. I can see they mounted them sideways so the levers flap into the air and so the cartridges eject upwards. To the pilot's right you can see one of the machine gun's levers as it cycles.Denoting that it is a Colt 1895. - LaFarge

That Rourke uses a Luger P08 and Hegla uses a Mauser C96? And that almost all the other mercenaries in this film use foreign firearms and not... well, you know, AMERICAN-made weapons? If they are mercenaries under the guise of the U.S. Military or official U.S. Military personnel, wouldn't it make more sense to use American-made weapons so that way they don't stick out like a sore thumb? --ThatoneguyJosh 04:10, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
:One reason why Rourke and the mercenary army used British firearms (Lee-Enfield No.1 MkIII rifles and Vickers machine guns) and German firearms (Luger P08 and Mauser C96 pistols) instead of American firearms could be that it would have been easier (and cheaper) to buy firearms from the British and the Germans (keep in mind that Britain and Germany were major imperial powers in 1914, both were major producers of firearms (namely military firearms), and both countries were engaged in an arms race with each other pre-WW1) -- User:Roughneck Jase 21:36PM AEST 21 February 2011.
::I seriously doubt that it's anything that elaborate. The M1911 is still a common weapon, so using foreign pistols, which most Americans have only seen in movies set during or before WWII helps with the antiquated feel. The rifles and machine guns were likely chosen for aesthetic reasons as well.--PistolJunkie 15:04, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
== Helga's "C96" == | |||
I was thinking about the change myself, but seeing as I'm going off of memory, I was wondering if someone could verify/look this up. Currently, Helga is stated to have been using a C96 Mauser. Now, as the weapon isn't completely detailed, there's probably room for moving the name around. My point is, the C96 uses a fixed magazine, and when Helga runs dry she clearly ejects a magazine from her gun. So, wouldn't this technically make the gun closer to a Mauser M712 Schnellfeuer (Which has a detachable box magazine)? Now, the reason I'm asking because I might be wrong, and she doesn't eject a magazine. I just remember a scene like that, but being unable to confirm this for myself at this moment, I thought that I'd ask here. A cap of the scene, if it does exist, would probably be useful too. --Clonehunter (talk) 10:45, 24 July 2014 (EDT)
