The Scouts (Razvedchiki) is a Soviet 1968 war movie directed by Igor Samborsky and Aleksei Shvachko. In December 1944, Soviet troops are fighting for a major city on the Danube (meaning Budapest). The river is heavily mined. A recon group of the Soviet Navy under the command of Captain-Lieutenant (Lieutenant Commander) Kurganov is assigned a mission to get plans for a safe fairway from the German headquarters.
The following weapons were used in the film The Scouts (Razvedchiki):
Pistols
TT-33
Sashko Makarenko (Leonid Bykov) is seen with a TT-33 pistol when he acts under disguise of a local civilian.
Luger P08
Capt.-Lt. Viktor Kurganov (Ivan Mikolaychuk) carries a Luger P08 when he is disguised as an SS officer. Miklos Gabor (Konstantin Stepankov) and numerous German officers use Lugers in several scenes.
Submachine Guns
PPSh-41
Most Soviet troops are armed with PPSh-41 submachine guns. Capt.-Lt. Viktor Kurganov (Ivan Mikolaychuk) carries a PPSh with stick magazine, others, including Starshina 2nd stage (second class petty officer) Sashko Makarenko (Leonid Bykov), Pvt. Vasiliy Sigaev (Aleksei Smirnov), Nikolay (Anatoli Yurchenko), Koberidze (Gizhuri Kobakhidze), and Lt. Kashkin (Vitali Doroshenko), use PPSh-41s with drum magazines.
MP40
Sashko Makarenko (Leonid Bykov) and several other men of Kurganov's unit carry MP40 submachine guns. MP40s are also widely used by German soldiers.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1891/30
Some Soviet soldiers, notably Vasiliy Sigaev (Aleksei Smirnov), carry Mosin Nagant M1891/30 rifles.
Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbine
Mosin Nagant M1938 Carbines are also seen.
Karabiner 98k
German soldiers carry Karabiner 98k rifles.
Assault Rifles
AK-47
In mass scenes Soviet soldiers carry AK-47 assault rifles (a platoon or a company of Soviet Army with service weapons was assigned to act in the mass scenes, as it was in many other Soviet war films).
Machine Guns and Autocannons
Degtyaryov DP-27
Glavny starshina (chief petty officer) Chernyak (Andrei Sova) fires a DP-27 when the group retreats on a boat under the enemy fire.
MG34
German MG34 machine guns are seen in several scenes.
Goryunov SGMB
A Goryunov SGMB is seen mounted on a BTR-152 APC. Both the vehicle and this version of the SG-43 machine gun are post-war models.
37-mm M1939 (61-K)
37-mm M1939 (61-K) AA autocannons are seen on march in the opening scene.
