::It is possible I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Joe Gage/Grouch Douglas carries a Colt 1851 Navy, with a cartridge conversion, given the ejector rod. The overall shape, particularly the hammer and open top design, is consistent with the Navy or the 1860 Army, and when John Ruth takes it out of Joe' holster, you can see the barrel is octagonal, whereas the Colt Army has a rounded barrel. As an aside, Oswaldo Mobray/Pete Hiccox seems to carry a converted 1860 army, before being disarmed by John Ruth. Unfortunatly, there aren't that many clear pictures of the gun being used, but as John is dissasembling it, you can see it's an converted 1860 army, and not an 1851 Navy. I have since added both of these to the page.--[[User:TravisTee|TravisTee]] ([[User talk:TravisTee|talk]]) 18:49, 19 October 2019 (EDT)

Latest revision as of 21:51, 14 December 2023

The picture on main page doesn't show the profile, but I think the gun that Joe Gage has hidden under the table is actually an 1847 Colt Walker, not a Remington 1858 New Army.

Good call Goondocks. I have not seen the movie but Cinema Weaponry graciously allowed me to take some pics of the guns from the movie. I'll just park them here until the movie comes out and someone can do the screencaps. :) MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 16:42, 29 June 2016 (EDT)

Screen used 1847 Walker from the film "The Hateful Eight"

The one that Gage carries in his belt holster (that Kurt Russell takes from him) seems to be a Colt 1851 Conversion. http://www.lsbauctions.com/1020/consecutive-serial-number-pair-colt-1851-navy-us-navy-bureau-of-ships-cases/

Oswaldo looks to be using a British Bulldog revolver. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Bull_Dog_revolver (Edit: Doh! I mislabeled the Bulldog in the previous pic. It's from Unforgiven. ;) hahahaha) Will try to get this soon :) Thanks) MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 02:11, 30 June 2016 (EDT)

I can't seem to find any info on the underlever coach gun Joe Gage uses. Any ideas? Looks like an old Husqvarna underlever shotgun, or something close to this: http://www.gunauction.com/buy/10810142/guns-for-sale-antiques/j-livingston-under-lever-12-ga-belgian-exposed-hammer-sxs-shotgun-antique

I"ll ask and see if I can get a hold of the actual shotguns from the movie and photograph them.  :) MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 16:49, 29 June 2016 (EDT)

If anyone's got any info on the knives and machetes, it would be appreciated! --Goondocks (talk) 09:28, 21 March 2016 (EDT)

Guns Used (For Sure)

I've managed to identify a few of the guns in the movie based on my viewing of it in the theater and from clips that have surfaced on YouTube. I'll try to keep this as far from speculation as possible.

Single Action Army

Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson) uses several Colt Single Action Army revolvers throughout the film. His own two pistols are both the 4.75" "Quick-Draw" models. One has a nickel finish with wood grips, and the other has a deep blued (and possibly case-hardened) finish with a filed-down front sight, which is a practice among experienced quick-draw shooters to decrease the draw time (Which would make a lot of sense for a bounty hunter and experienced shooter like Major Warren). John Ruth "The Hangman" (Kurt Russell) also uses a Single Action Army, although his is the 7.5" "Cavalry" model and appears to have a brass frame while the rest of the gun is blued or case-colored. It's worth noting that during the film, Major Warren gives his own Quick-Draw Colt to Chris Mannix while he picks up John Ruth's Cavalry model and uses it alongside his own nickel Quick-Draw model. I'm noting this so there's not confusion about the guns Major Warren is using, as he is seen with both a Quick-Draw and a Cavalry Colt, both with blued finishes, and this could be mistaken for a continuity error. --Caldwellb734 (talk) 17:04, 11 April 2016 (EDT)

Colt Single Action Army w/ 4.75" barrel, case colored and blued, referred to as "Quick-Draw" or "Civilian" model. This one is very similar to the one used by (Samuel L. Jackson) in the film.

Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson) holds one of his Single Action Army revolvers on Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins). Note the filed-down front sight and possibly case-colored frame.

One of Major Warren's Colt revolvers sitting on a small table. Note this one is nickel with wood grips and an unmodified front sight.

Major Warren sits at a table to reload his two Colt revolvers. Note the nickel "Quick-Draw" model on the far side of the table is his own gun, but the long-barreled "Cavalry" model sitting closest to the camera belongs to John Ruth "The Hangman" (Kurt Russell).

Joe Gage's Revolver

Please help ID Joe's revolver. Are you sure it's a Walker? --Ben41 (talk) 02:46, 1 July 2016 (EDT)

I don't know whose gun was whose, but I'll just keep on parking pics here. I'll also reconfirm the IDs with CW when I get a chance :)MoviePropMaster2008 (talk)
Sorry, the Walker is there later. --Ben41 (talk) 03:27, 1 July 2016 (EDT)
