The Tiger and the Snow is a 2005 Italian romantic comedy film written, directed by, and starring Roberto Benigni. It largely is set in Iraq during the Coalition invasion there circa April 2003.

The following weapons were used in the film The Tiger and the Snow:

Handguns

Beretta 92SB

A US Army NCO (Steven Beckingham) at the roadblock checkpoint uses what appears to be a Beretta 92SB (probably standing in for the M9) attached to a lanyard.

The soldier next to him has an M16A4 with a rail-mounted optic in place of the carrying handle, which is slightly anachronistic as although the M16A4 did exist in early 2003 they were not widely fielded yet among US forces.

M16A4 with M16A2 handguards

One of the US soldiers at the roadblock, Pete (Peter Swander), uses an M16A4 with M16A2 handguards and the carrying handle attached (probably standing in for the M16A2 as M16A4s were not very commonplace in US Army units in early 2003). Another US soldier has a reflex sight in place of the carrying handle, though still retaining the M16A2 handguards.

Attilio watches Coalition M60A1 tanks pass by, M85 heavy machine guns mounted on their roofs. The use of Patton tanks (and single-engine Hueys) is anachronistic as they had been retired from US frontline service for almost a decade by 2003. According to Dale Dye, one of the military advisers on the film, the tanks were actually borrowed from the Tunisian military as the film's Iraq sequences were filmed in Tunisia.
