Talk:The Road Warrior
Title
There's an interesting situation with the title. In fact, the original, intended Australian title is Mad Max 2 and The Road Warrior is an alternate title, mostly used in US. Maybe Road Warrior (Mad Max 2), The will be better? --Kloga (talk) 20:17, 16 December 2013 (EST)
- I understand the practical reason why they went with the new title, it was because few people in the US had seen Mad Max. But I have a hard time thinking up of a sequel that was as different from the original as The Road Warrior was to Mad Max. (Close second, Highlander II, I guess.) --Funkychinaman (talk) 22:36, 16 December 2013 (EST)
- I'm a fan of both franchises and I must admit that as any good sequel Mad Max 2 is a stand-alone movie which continues main themes. Second Higlander was badly botched by studio and that's why it's do weird (yet, theatrical version is still a guilty pleasure for me). By the way, I need to add Highlander II, yet another thing to do. --Kloga (talk) 14:36, 17 December 2013 (EST)
- US release title takes precedent in cases like this. Also you can't just make up movies and add them, everyone knows there's only one Highlander film. EVERYONE. Evil Tim (talk) 14:39, 17 December 2013 (EST)
- It won the Academy Aware for Best Movie Ever Made, after all. --Funkychinaman (talk) 14:41, 17 December 2013 (EST)
- Evil Tim, despite I wished that Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines would have existed in a parallel universe only (apart from the few scenes), I don't think that cases of co-called "fanon discontinuity" are good. Studio has the rights, studio does what it wants. So we have a 5 movies and a good TV series, set in the same universe last two movies were. :) --Kloga (talk) 14:51, 17 December 2013 (EST)

Nordenfelt gun
I don't think the 4-barreled guns mounted on the marauder's cars are Nordenfelt guns. They appear to be air-powered guns, probably home-brewed. --DOHC Holiday 12:56, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
- If doesn't so should it count as a wrong prop version of it?.. --Kloga (talk) 20:17, 16 December 2013 (EST)
C02 volley gun
A Nordenfelt-style CO2-powered volley gun is mounted on a pickup truck and used to shoot down the gyrocopter with flechette darts. The same weapon is also used by Wez (Vernon Wells) to shoot the 'Warrior Woman' played by Virginia Hey.
- FWIW, this is how it's described in the script: "a machine gun like crossbow - the 4-pak - fires four bolts..." In the movie, it appeared that the 4-pak is also gas-powered.
- There's also a description of the gun used at the beginning of the movie: "a brutal, gas-powered 'gun': the heads of six metal arrows protrude from a big barrel. This weapon is the "porta-pak". --MaxDeployment
Crossbow
Wez uses a forearm-mounted crossbow throughout the film. There are also numerous other standard crossbows used by other marauders and the refinery defenders.
Scope
Is the scope really different on the firing gun? I don't think it is. I think it's just the forced perspective throwing you off.
It could be the forced perspective, but they look different to me. --Predator20 16:25, 23 August 2009 (UTC) The front clamping ring is larger than the front of the scope in both pictures, thus forced perspective.
Flamethrower
The flamethrower almost looks like it's built out of the barrel and recoil spring housing of a 40mm Bofors gun.

Intro footage
M1 Garands can be made out in the archival footage used at the beginning of the movie. How come its not included on the page? Spartan198 (talk) 03:31, 28 September 2016 (EDT)
