Discussion

According to this the M3A1 uses a hole in the bolt for the user to use their finger. Wouldn't this be problematic after firing even just one magazine? --AdAstra2009 14:48, 4 August 2012 (CDT)

I was just wondering the same thing today. Can it be done with a bare hand? --Funkychinaman (talk) 22:44, 9 July 2014 (EDT)
The hole on the bolt is pretty big so I imagine you could do it with gloves on, but I doubt this would be necessary. Bear in mind that this is an open bolt gun, so even if the chamber gets hot the bolt itself is only in contact with it for a fraction of a second for each shot, so it wouldn't get much heat transferred to it. The bolt is also pretty hefty so would take a lot of firing to heat it up to dangerous levels, probably a lot more than could be achieved by somebody carrying a normal number of magazines. --commando552 (talk) 13:30, 10 July 2014 (EDT)
Apparently some people felt changes were called for. Evil Tim (talk) 03:41, 3 April 2018 (EDT)
