Steyr-Solothurn S2-200
The Steyr-Solothurn S2-200 is a German-designed light machine gun produced in Switzerland/Austria. The original weapon was designed in Germany, and outsourced to Solothurn of Switzerland for production. Solothurn in turn produced the gun at the Steyr factory in Austria. The weapon was adopted by Austria as the MG30, and was also adopted by Hungary as the 31.M. After Germany annexed Austria in 1938, a number of MG30s were pressed into service by the Waffen-SS, who used them during World War II.
The Hungarian 31.M is chambered in 8x56mmR Steyr, and generally features a second grip, a slightly different segmented muzzle device, and has a different bipod.
