GIAT M693
(Redirected from GIAT F2)
The M693 (full designation "Canon Mitrailleur 20 mm Modèle 693") is a French 20 mm automatic cannon designed by GIAT (now Nexter Systems). It is used on armored vehicles, aircraft, helicopters and naval vessels and has been exported to many different countries. The M693 features a dual feed system allowing the ammunition type to be changed depending on the target being engaged. A navalized variant known as the F2 is used on ships and is also chin mounted on helicopters. The M693 is a close relative of the GIAT M621, which is a lightweight low recoil variant chambered for the smaller 20x102mm round.
