I am an avid movie fan and writer. IMFDB has been instrumental in providing me with information as both a writer and viewer of the thriller/suspense/action genre. Firearm choices made by writers (or directors, etc.) for the protagonist(s) and antagonist(s), gives the viewer additional insight into the motivations of the character. I consider this choice an extension of the character's wardrobe. A resource like the Internet Movie Firearms Database proves beneficial and entertaining to both the curious and the enthusiast. I am amused by the disconnect between the cinematic firearm physics/human capabilities versus the legitimate limited capabilities of the too many handgun owners who might hit the range every few months to poke holes in stationary paper targets. More than a few firearm owners purchase their weapon based solely on the highly choreographed acrobatic prowess of their movie hero engaged in an expertly edited close-quarters gunfire exchange in which each of the hero's .45 ACP rounds finds its mark, taking out two or three machine gun wielding thugs. I believe all quality firearms to be capable, but I know that if a firearm doesn't "fit," or is difficult to keep on target at the range, it is likely that firearm can quickly turn into a liability in a life-threatening situation.
