F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) is a horror-themed first-person shooter developed by Monolith and published by Vivendi/Sierra in 2005. The player assumes the role of Point Man, a member of the F.E.A.R. team who possesses superhuman reflexes. The story evolves around Paxton Fettel, who has taken control of a team of clone supersoldiers, called "Replica soldiers". The members of F.E.A.R. in conjunction with SFOD-D (Delta Force) must try to stop Fettel before it is too late.

The following weapons are featured in the video game F.E.A.R. and its expansions:


Handguns

Rakow AT-14

The Rakow AT-14 is the primary featured handgun, modeled after the Heckler & Koch USP40, and can be dual wielded. It is incorrectly depicted as having a magazine capacity of 18 rounds instead of 13 or 16 like the real USP40, only the 9mm version using magazines with H&K's extended floor-plates can hold 18 rounds. Another oddity is that it's modeled with a tall target front sight and the standard height rear sight. Finally, the textures of the weapon are modeled after a USP45, but pre-release media indicates they are, indeed, chambered for .40 S&W.

SM15 Machine Pistol

The SM15 Machine Pistol is the primary handgun (or machine pistol) for the Xbox 360 of the game, modeled after the Olympic Arms OA-93 Pistol, but the handguard and rail along the top of the weapon bear a striking similarity to the Heckler & Koch HK416. The SM15's animations are identical to the Rakow AT-14. However, in F.E.A.R. Files, the single-wield animations are very similar to that of the Penetrator, resulting in the weapon pointing directly to the left instead of forward, blocking the player's screen.

Submachine Guns

Sumak RPL

The Sumak RPL is the primary submachine gun of the game, modeled after the Heckler & Koch MP5A3 with some elements from the Special Weapons MP-10. In-game it features an unusable mounted holographic sight and a dedicated forend weaponlight. In early stages of the game, the Sumak RPL was fitted with a usable scope rather than the holographic sight.

Rifles

Rakow G2A2

The Rakow G2A2 is the main assault rifle of the game, modeled after a heavily modified SL8 sporting rifle and featuring an M14-style rear aperture sight. The Rakow G2A2 fires on full auto and loaded with a (rather tiny) Beta-C magazine, but holds only 45 rounds instead of 100 rounds like the real Beta-C.

Baksha ASP Rifle

The Baksha ASP Rifle is another assault rifle available in the game, modeled after (and possibly) the prototype version of the IMI Tavor TAR-21. The weapon fires only on 3-round burst and utilizes a 3X scope.

Vector Engineering Systems V7 Advanced Rifle

The Vector Engineering Systems V7 Advanced Rifle was introduced with the expansion pack Perseus Mandate, replacing the Rakow G2A2 as fully automatic rifle, also depict as standard issue rifle for the Nightcrawler Mercenary Army. The weapon is slightly modeled after the Heckler & Koch G36C (mainly in the top half of the foregrip, the upper receiver, and the carrying rail), utilizes a magnifying night-vision scope, and bears a magazine resembling the 20-round version of the AR-15's STANAG magazine, albeit flattened on the bottom. Like the Watson Autoshotgun, the V7 is never used by the Point Man.

Shotguns

Vollmer VK-12

The Vollmer VK-12 is the primary shotgun in the game, modeled after the Franchi SPAS-12. The weapon is loaded with 12 shells instead of 8 shells like the real SPAS-12. Fans of the Gibbing system will find this gun to their likes.

Watson Autoshotgun

The Watson Autoshotgun is introduced in the PS3 version of F.E.A.R., as well as the Xbox 360 version of F.E.A.R. Files, and modeled after a heavily modified Armsel Protecta, featuring a removable drum substituting the integrated one, an AR-15-style telescoping stock, and some strange rear-sight assembly. It is also one of only two weapons here never used by the Point Man (Both Perseus Mandate and the PS3 bonus mission are not from the Point Man's perspective, and the instant action maps are, technically, non-canon).

Mounted Weapons

Dillon Aero M134 Minigun

Few of the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters used by the 1st SFOD-D are seen armed with Dillon Aero M134 Miniguns. It should be note that the only time the Miniguns were seen in action, was during the E3 2004 demo mission, used by Lieutenant Spencer "Spen" Jankowski and a SFOD-D operator.
