The Ambushers is a 1967 spy comedy directed by Henry Levin. It's the third of four films about the adventures of "super spy" Matt Helm, preceded by The Silencers (1966) and The Ambushers (1967) and followed by The Wrecking Crew (1969). All films are very loosely based on the novels by Donald Hamilton; while the original novels are written in serious key, the films tend to be parodies on James Bond genre.
The plot of the film revolves around the hijacking of a secret "flying saucer" spaceship by evil Jose Ortega. Matt Helm and the former pilot of "flying saucer" Sheila Sommers are sent to recover it.
The following weapons were used in the film The Ambushers:
A Derringer is taken by Jose Ortega (Albert Salmi) from Quintana's handguns collection. Then it is used by Sheila Sommers (Janice Rule). It isn't seen close enough to be identified for sure but its general outlook resembles Remington 1866 Derringer or one of its more modern successors.
Walther P38
Nickel plated Walther P38s are seen in hands of Ortega's officers. Matt Helm (Dean Martin) captures and uses one of them.
T-62 Civilian Defense Model
T-62 Civilian Defense Model rifles, a "Tommy Gun"-style version of Armalite AR-7, are used by Ortega's soldiers.
Quintana's Handguns Collection
Various flintlock pistols and early revolvers are seen on the wall in Quintana's apartments. Except the forementioned Derringer, none of them are used in action.
