To Commit a Murder (1967, original title: Peau D'Espion) is an French spy movie directed by Eduardo Molinaro based on a novel by Jacques Robert. Charles Beaulieu (Louis Jourdan), a writer and a veteran of the Algerian War, gets into an affair with Gertraud Sphax (Senta Berger), the wife of a wealthy newspaper magnate (Edmond O'Brien). Beaulieu is hired by Mr. Sphax, who seems to be oblivious about his wife's affair, to work for him and to accompany him to Heidelberg, West Germany, where professor Henri Banck (Maurice Garrel) is about to receive an award. However, Beaulieu is soon visited by his former commander, major Rhome (Bernard Blier), who reveals, that Sphax plans to deliver Banck to the Chinese and hires Beaulieu to prevent the kidnapping.

Before going to West Germany, Rhome gives Beaulieu (Louis Jourdan) a S&W Model 10 snub nose revolver. He later smuggles it up to the plane, that would take the group to Egypt, and use it to force Sphax and Gertraud to let him and Banck go.
