Race for the Yankee Zephyr was a 1981 adventure movie filmed in New Zealand that starred George Peppard as a leader of a group of treasure hunters who are intent on recovering the lost treasure hidden within the wreckage of a recently discovered WWII plane. Besides Peppard, the film featured an international cast including Ken Wahl , Lesley Ann Warren , and Donald Pleasence . The film was directed by actor David Hemmings .
