Fieseler Fi 103 (aka, the V-1 Flying Bomb)

A cruise missile powered by a pulse jet, the V-1 was either launched from the ground via a ramp or air-launched from bombers. Its slow speed allowed it to be intercepted by early jets and later piston-powered aircraft, and was vulnerable to AAA fire.

Aggregat-4 (aka, the V-2 Rocket)

The grand-daddy of basically every ballistic missile today. Unlike the V-1, the V-2 was nearly impossible to stop once it had lifted off. The only defense was to take out the launch sites prior to launch. The V-2 begat the Redstone, which begat the Mercury-Redstone, which launched the first Americans into space.
