Adding additional code to gun page links

I appreciate the work you are doing, but what you are doing is redundant. We created page re-directs in order to simplify coding. So if a person typee [[Norinco Type 56]], for example, they will automatically be taken to the Norinco Type 56 section of the AK-47 page even if they don't bother to write out [[AK-47#Norinco Type 56|Norinco Type 56]]. Just thought I'd tell you so that you don't waste too much time. -MT2008 10:42, 30 June 2011 (CDT)

I explained to you that your cleanup is redundant. There are re-directs for all of the links that you supposedly "cleaned", which obviates the need for the additional code. It isn't a "problem", but I'm trying to save you from doing unnecessary work. I mean, you don't want to waste your time on something unnecessary, right? -MT2008 18:12, 30 June 2011 (CDT)

I would add that it certainly isn't necessary to edit each sub-heading individually, and could be seen as spamming the recent changes page with a needlessly large number of edits to each page. I imagine that's what MT2008 is objecting to primarily. Evil Tim 19:17, 30 June 2011 (CDT)

Instead of fixing every single weapon hyperlink, you may want to put your efforts towards making sure the redirects go to the specific firearm (e.g. Making sure "AKM" redirect goes directly to the AKM weapon on the AK-47 page. --Ben41 21:04, 6 July 2011 (CDT)

REDIRECTS

If you type in Smith & Wesson Model 629 in the Search Box, you are already redirected to the exact spot. You will see right below the Smith & Wesson Model 29 banner there's a "redirected from Smith & Wesson Model 629" link. If you click on that link you see the redirect code on the page. Therefore you don't have to write the redirect code on whatever page already has the Smith & Wesson Model 629 hyperlink.

If you're going to try and correct any more links, I would first click on the hyperlink to see if there's already a redirect. --Ben41 20:54, 7 July 2011 (CDT)

You're still doing a lot of unnecessary clean ups. By just typing in SIG-Sauer P229, it already takes you to the correct heading in the SIG pistol series page. Click the hyperlink first to see where it takes you BEFORE you change the link. --Ben41 21:50, 11 July 2011 (CDT)

You're still doing it

And frankly, it's starting to be annoying to me, and I'm clearly not the only one. The admins have already said the links are already setup to automatically redirect and take you to the proper pages (And in most of your edits, you're not even coding it to go to a specific gun variant, which would probably be more acceptable) so whats the damn point of going through all these? All you're doing is adding a large amount of unnecessary edits onto the logs and adding needless extra space to the articles/pages. You're trying to solve a problem that is nonexistent in the first place and in doing so putting more space on the site and therefore making it harder to access, which goes against your rationale. I would recommend you at least check with theadmins before doing any more of these edits, if not just stop them altogether. StanTheMan 12:39, 18 July 2011 (CDT)

I concur. Please stop now (and if you don't stop, I'm afraid I'll have to temp-ban you). -MT2008 18:25, 20 July 2011 (CDT)

Your Last Warning

Your Last Warning: Do NOT redo any more redirects of gun models like you've been doing. Further noncompliance will result in a more severe restriction of privileges. --Ben41 16:35, 6 February 2012 (CST)

I agree with Ben. I see you do any more redirects, you're banned. Sorry about that, but you have been warned repeatedly. -MT2008 09:38, 8 February 2012 (CST)
