Striptease is a 1995 comedy written and directed by Andrew Bergman. Based on the caper novel by Carl Hiaasen, the film stars Demi Moore as Erin Grant, a single mother working as an exotic dancer to pay for an expensive custody battle with her ex-husband (Robert Patrick). Grant's act also attracts the attention of a lecherous United States Congressman (Burt Reynolds).
The following firearms were used in the film Striptease:
During the opening fracas in the Eager Beaver, Dilbeck's aide, Erb Crandall (Robert Stanton) flashes what appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 36 snub nose revolver.
Darrell Grant (Robert Patrick) steals a Smith & Wesson 4006 from his sister's trailer. Later, when he attempts to fire it at Malcolm Moldowsky (Paul Guilfoyle), nothing happens, and he tosses it away in disgust.

Exactly why is not made clear, but it is likely that, being both unfamiliar with firearms and stoned to the gills, Darrell has missed any number of important steps, including chambering a round, cocking the hammer, disengaging the safety, or even checking first that the clip is loaded (in the book, it is because the gun's owner has attached a trigger lock, which Darrell has failed to notice until that moment).
