Crime Story is a 1993 crime/action film directed by Kirk Wong and starring Jackie Chan as a Hong Kong police inspector who must rescue a kidnapped business tycoon from a criminal gang led by a fellow detective (Kent Cheng ). Loosely based on the events surrounding the real-life kidnapping of Teddy Wang , the film is notable for featuring one of Chan's few "serious" performances.
