Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is the first television spin-off of the series Law & Order. The series (sometimes referred to as Law & Order: SVU) revolves around the cases investigated by the NYPD's Special Victims Unit, which primarily handles sexually-based offenses.

2nd and 3rd Generation Glock 19s are used by the majority of NYPD detectives in the Special Victims Unit including Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), Detective (later Sergeant) John Munch (Richard Belzer), Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice-T), Detective Brian Cassidy (Dean Winters), Detective Chester Lake (Adam Beach), Detective Nick Amaro (Danny Pino), and Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish). Captain Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) is sometimes seen carrying one in some episodes. Uniformed NYPD Officers and FBI Agents, including Special Agents Dean Porter (Vincent Spano) and Dana Lewis (Marcia Gay Harden) are seen using Glock 19s as well. For some reason every time a Glock is drawn in the show a hammer-cocking sound is made even though Glocks are hammerless.
A SIG-Sauer P232 is used by Tony Degalio (Michael Luggio) in Season 3's "Justice" (S3E19) to shoot Judge Thornburg. Identified as a .380 semiautomatic, Det. Benson picks it up with a pen as evidence out of an abandoned van.

A Browning Hi-Power appears in Season 9's "Inconceivable", being used by a man named Scott Ryland (Kevin Kane Jr.) to shoot James Grall (Mark Moses). It's later discovered at Ryland's apartment and identified as a "9mm Browning" by Det. Stabler.

Capt. Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) is seen with a Smith & Wesson Model 36 as his sidearm in some episodes. One appears in the episode "Noncompliance". Another is seen in the episode "Grief", used by a victim to commit suicide with, and is identified as a "Smith & Wesson Model 36" by CSU.

Kahr K9
In Season 7's "Ripped", Det. Stabler carries a Kahr K9 as his off-duty weapon. Another appears in Season 8's "Florida", carried by Capt. Julia Milfield (Kim Delaney), but is taken and held on her by Simon Marsden (Michael Weston).
The NYPD ESU Officers throughout the series use Heckler & Koch MP5A3s as one of their main weapons. They are fitted with various attachments, such as scopes or tactical flashlights.
The NYPD ESU snipers are seen using Remington 700s throughout the series. In Season 5's "Escape" (S5E11), Jersey State snipers are seen with the rifles.
In Season 7's "Fault", a customized Ithaca 37 Stakeout shotgun with a shortened barrel and magazine tube, a ventilated barrel shroud and a folding vertical grip is used by Victor Paul Gitano (Lou Diamond Phillips) while holding Det. Stabler hostage.
