Painkiller Jane was a 2007 science fiction action television series that ran for one season on the Sci Fi Channel. Based on the comic book character of the same name, the series starred Kristanna Loken as the self-healing titular character DEA Agent Jane Vasco. The series' story was completely different from 2005 film of the same name that starred Emmanuelle Vaugier as the title character. In both versions, the title character can heal from all mortal wounds and (apparently) cannot be killed except through complete destruction of the body (burned completely to ashes or explosion or acid) or dismemberment or decapitation.
The series was mostly filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, but then abruptly moved to Budapest, Hungary for the last third of the season. To the show's credit, when the production moved to Hungary, the storyline also moved to the same country, so they did not try to make an Eastern European country look like the United States.
