(James Bond 007) - Golden Gun
The Golden Gun is a fictional weapon that first appeared as the title weapon in the film The Man with the Golden Gun and has gone on to make appearances in most Bond video games. Though it is mechanically possible to fabricate a single shot weapon that looks identical to the prop, the actual Golden Gun was merely a prop made by Colibri Lighters in England. It was made from a lighter, cigarette case, ballpoint pen, and a cuff link. The metal clip on the pen was used as a front sight. The mechanism was supposedly a single-shot, breech-loading pistol . It fired a 4.2mm projectile with 20 grams gold bullets. 20 grams equates to just over 308 grains, heavier than an average .44 Magnum bullet and perhaps a bit too heavy for a 4.2mm round, which is just over .16 caliber. 2 grams (30 grains) would have been a bit more realistic.
The movie shows .25 ACP or .32 ACP cases fitted with pointed rifle bullets.
The Colibri Lighters Golden Gun has appeared in the following:
Films
Video Games
- GoldenEye 64 - Available in multiplayer, one single-player mission, and can be earned or unlocked for all single-player missions.
- GoldenEye: Rogue Agent
- The World Is Not Enough
- Agent Under Fire - Appears as a golden Desert Eagle, but still only holds one shot. Multiplayer only.
- NightFire - Multiplayer only
- Everything or Nothing - Must be earned for single player. Unlike most other appearances, it takes more than one shot to kill an enemy (excluding headshots).
- From Russia with Love - Appears as a golden version of the double-action Magnum revolver. Possibly a nod to the novel where the titular gun was a golden Colt Single Action-Army revolver. Multiplayer only.
- GoldenEye 2010
