Error creating thumbnail: File missing (Airwolf (1984-1986) Airwolf was a television action series that aired for three seasons on CBS from 1984 to 1986 and then for one on the USA Network. For its first three seasons, the series starred Jan-Michael Vincent as Stringfellow Hawke, a Vietnam veteran helicopter pilot who is asked by the Firm, a covert US government agency, to recover a top secret military attack helicopter known as Airwolf that has fallen into hostile hands. Upon the recovery, Stringfellow flies Airwolf on missions for the Firm, in exchange for the agency's search for his brother, who went MIA in Vietnam. The series was created by Donald Bellisario (who is known for creating such series as Magnum P.I. JAG NCIS Ernest Borgnine , Jean Bruce Scott, and Alex Cord .

Guns of Airwolf According to the computer readout seen during Season 1, Airwolf's offensive weapons include 40mm Cannons and .50 caliber Chain Guns mounted on each side in addition to its rocket pods. The machine guns were shown to have telescoping barrels, which allowed them to be stowed away when the helicopter configured itself to fly supersonic.
