Rifle & Carbine M1 Carbine Sonny Wortzik (Al Pacino ) uses a M1 Carbine as his main weapon during the bank robbery, sometimes handing it off to Sal when he would go to talk to the police outside. Since Sonny was a Vietnam veteran, it is possible this was an artifact from his war years. Several NYPD officers surrounding the bank also carry M1 Carbines, some with extended 30-round magazines.
