Extreme Prejudice is a 1987 action film starring Nick Nolte as "stone-age" Texas Ranger who takes on an old nemesis and a rogue Special Forces team. The film was based on a story by John Milius (Red Dawn ) and Fred Dekker (RoboCop 3 ) and was directed by Walter Hill (Red Heat ). The final shootout is somewhat reminiscent of Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch . To ensure authenticity, the producers also hired Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson as a consultant.

Colt Commander
A Colt Commander is the main sidearm of Texas Ranger Jack Benteen (Nick Nolte ) in the film. In fact, this was the main service sidearm of real life Texas Ranger Joaquin Jackson, who was the inspiration for Nolte's character. Nick Nolte bought a .45 Colt Commander, just like the one owned by Jackson, including the custom grips and also an identical holster to carry the gun, to use it in the film. However, in his autobiography "One Ranger", Jackson remembers that the .45 Commander was not reliable with blanks. Therefore, a 9mm Colt Commander was used instead.
