History Channel: Civil War - A Nation Divided
Your lack of effort is duly noted. This article is a candidate for deletion. IMFDB expects certain minimal standards from articles; even if a contributor cannot take their own screenshots, it is still possible to create detailed per-weapon writeups and format an article correctly. Simply dumping a couple of weapon names on a page is essentially demanding we do all the work for you, and this is unacceptable. |
The following firearms were featured in the video game Civil War: A Nation Divided.
Colt Army Model 1860
The Colt 1860 was the standard pistol of civil war as well as the game and is a single-action six round handgun. Interesting note is that during the reloading sequence in the game, percussion caps are never put on but the gun fires anway.
Remington Model 1858
Similar to the Colt, the Remington Model 1858 was Colt's primary rival during the Civil war and the main techinical advantage it had over the Colt was it's quick loading system which could be achieved by just swapping out the cylinders and locking them in place.
Springfield Model 1861
The Springfield Model 1861 was the primary shoulder arm during the Civil War. It was a single-shot, perucssion based, rifled musket. The rifle has a fixed bayonet and like the Colt, the gun is fired without a percussion cap being placed during reloading and another note is that no Enfield Model 1853's appear in the game despite being the second most widley used shoulder weapon of the Civil war in which both sides used them in significant quantities.
Whitworth Rifle
Sharps 1855
The Sharps rifle was a breech-loading, falling-block action rifle that was very popular during the war especially with the cavalry. In the game, an infantry version with a fixed bayonet and a sniper version with a scope exists.
Colt Model 1855
The Colt Model 1855 revolving rifle is one of the first weapons aquired in the game. In the game, the gun is seen being used very often by many soldiers when in history, it was the complete opposite. The hot gases released from the cylinder during firing often ended up igniting the other charges within the gun causing the gun to often blow up within the shooters hand and many soldiers got injured and killed as a result. Because of this, the army decided to withdraw it from service in the early stages of the civil war.
Spencer 1860 Carbine
The Spencer repeating rifle was an extremley popular weapon during the civil war. It held 7 shots and could be fired very rapidly, accurately, and reliably. The game does a good job at representing the rifle but during reloading, the magazine is entered and fired without a round being chambered.
Henry 1860
The Henry rifle was perhaps the most revoultionary gun of the time and was the direct precursor to the Winchester rifle. In the game, it shown being used in very early to very late battles as almost a standard issue weapon when in reality, the Henry was rarley issued to regular troops and was used more by soldiers who purchased it with their own funds.
Target Rifle
9 lb. Howitzer
The 9 lb. howitzer is the main artillery piece of the game and can be manned by the player in various levels. Intersting note is how the gun can be fired, reloaded, and fired very quickly by only one person when in reality, a whole crew would be needed.
Gatling Gun
The Gatling gun was the world's first practical machine gun and saw great usage during the civil war. Along side the howitzer, it is the only other weapon that can be manned and has a rather slow firing rate and infinite ammunition.
