Talk:America's Army 3
Sidearms
Why are there no sidearms listed. No proper soldier would go into battle with unsufficient gear-S&Wshooter 03:54, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- I haven't seen any handguns in the game as yet. If I encounter any, I will add them. I know the original America's Army features the Beretta M9 and Makarov PM as sidearms for the U.S. and OPFOR respectively, but haven't seen any pistols in this game yet. Orca1 9904 22:39, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- No side arms? What the hell do they want you to do if you run outta ammo?-Oliveira 22:44, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- Use the bayonet to liberate a rifle from an enemy soldier. They won't be needing it after you stab 'em with the bayonet-S&Wshooter 00:00, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- But with that i will need to be all stealthy and shit. This isn't a stealth game.
- It's actually hitting them with the butt of the rifle, not a bayonet attack as none of the weapons have bayonets mounted or available, and I've actually seen it used in the game (hell, even had a guy do it to me once when he caught me out of ammo in close quarters; *SMACK!* "Enepria dolo!"'). - You could just wait for one of your buddies to drop a guy so you can take his gun. Or you could just take some ammo off of a dead OPFOR as the Obran seems to use a STANAG-S&Wshooter 21:25, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- The Obran rifles start out using Magpul P-Mags, but can be reloaded with STANAGs. Not sure about the LMK light machine gun version though, since it's magazine-fed and not belt-fed. Will have to try sometime... Orca1 9904 22:23, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- You do all know that in RL the vast majority of soldiers do not get issued sidearms--AdAstra2009 21:26, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah but you can get your own if it's authorized. My cousin's buddy was a marine and carried a .44 Desert Eagle while he was in the middle east. If it were me, I would try to get a Hi-Power, a Desert Warrior or a CZ75 authorized-S&Wshooter 21:28, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'd use either a Glock or maybe a double-stack 1911 like a Para-Ordnance. Orca1 9904 22:23, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's supposed to be really hard to get .45 ACP, but I could totally see how a Para would be a wonderful choice . A Glock would also be a good choice, but I do not personally like them. They are way too light for me. If they would let me, I would try to bring my 686+P-S&Wshooter 22:38, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah I'm calling Bullshit on on that, It is illegal to bring personally owned firearms onto the battlefield. --AdAstra2009 00:19, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- Not if it is authorized by the commanding officer. One of my cousins is a corpman, and he has gotten the OK to get a Desert Warrior (he just needs to get one). Before that he was issued a Colt M1911A1-S&Wshooter 00:55, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
