Fort Saganne
|
Fort Saganne is a 1984 French war film directed by Alain Corneau and based a novel of the same name by Louis Gardel. It is the story of a young volunteer officer in the Sahara, who in 1911 leads a valiant defense against Sultan Omar. Starring Gérard Depardieu, Philippe Noiret, Catherine Deneuve, and Sophie Marceau.
The following weapons were used in the film Fort Saganne:
Revolvers
MAS Mle. 1892
Lt. Charles Saganne (Gérard Depardieu) and other French officers carry Mle 1892 Revolvers.
Rifles
Lebel Mle. 1886
French and Arabic soldiers mainly carry Lebel 1886 rifles. Lt. Saganne (Gérard Depardieu) also uses this weapon.
Berthier Mle. 1907/15 M16
Arabs and French soldiers are armed with Berthier Mle. 1907/15 M16 rifles, which did not enter service until five years after the events of the film. A better choice would be the Berthier Modèle 1892 Artillery Carbine or M1902 Colonial rifle.
Mauser Model 1943
Some of the Arabian fighters are also seen with anachronistic M43 Spanish Mausers standing in for period-correct German or Turkish models.
Kabyle Musket
Kabyle Muskets are also used by the Arabs.
