Memories

This show premiered my freshman year in college. I watched it religiously every Friday night right after Miami Vice. It lost some of it's pizazz when the setting moved to Las Vegas about half-way through the first season. It was better when they were in Chicago. Nevertheless I watched it. Unfortunately the second season wasn't nearly as good. At the time I felt like they were cutting corners. It felt cheap in the second season. Recently I had the chance to watch the show again and I see that my intuition was correct. The second season had very little effort put into it.--Jcordell 22:37, 22 June 2011 (CDT)

I only saw this for the first time recently on DVD, but yeah, the second season kind of sucked. There were three or four really good episodes in it, but then the rest just seemed to have nothing to do with the main villains and were pretty dull and/or ridiculous. Chicago PD Firearms Policy

I notice that many of the detectives carry some type of small frame 38 Special revovler and then a much larger magnum revolver or a 45 auto. I chalked it up to artistic license. However,I recently came across and article by Massad Ayoob regarding the Chicago Police Department and its firearms policy back in the day (pre-Nineties I suspect). Evidently Chicago cops (or perhaps it was just detectives) could carry whatever they wanted just so long as they carried a 38-caliber revolver on their person. So, it wasn't unusual for detectives to carry a Colt M1911A1, Colt Python or even a S&W Model 29 (44 Magnum) and a S&W Model 36 or a Colt Detective Special. Dennis Farina was a Chicago cop before he was an actor and the co-creator of the show was Chuck Adamson retired CPD and real-life inspiration for the head cops in Crime Story, L.A. Takedown and Heat.
