Sons Of The Forest is a 2023 first-person survival horror game, the sequel to 2018's The Forest, released Early Access on February 23rd, 2023. Players control a member of a search party attempting to locate a wealthy family who were last seen on a mysterious, seemingly uninhabited island. After your helicopter is brought down over the island, players must seek shelter, craft and find equipment, find sustenance, and contend with a hostile cannibal tribe and mutated creatures.
The pistol in game is a hybrid design and takes design cues from multiple pistols; however, it is most obviously influenced by the Heckler & Koch USP Compact, as evidenced by its slide being very close to the USP Compact's, and even going so far as to have "COMPACT PISTOL" engraved on the slide where "USP COMPACT" would otherwise be, and in a similar font no less. Interestingly, the pistol in game is noted to be chambered in a .22 caliber as indicated by markings on the gun and on pistol ammo boxes, which is not a caliber any USP pistol has ever been chambered in, although the lack of tapering on the barrel in game and the proportions of the pistol rounds call this into question.
