Liberty Dynamic Enhanced Distraction Device

The Liberty Dynamic Enhanced Distraction Device is a flashbang-type stun grenade developed by the American company Liberty Dynamic, intended to address some of the issues with conventional flashbangs. The body consists of multiple pieces, held together with screws; the two main components are the "fuze" assembly (actually an electronic component, meant to allow for adjustment of the detonation delay (and to minimize the deviation therein that conventional fuzes can have), fitted with a conventional pin-and-lever system, along with an LED to indicate the grenade's current condition, and the main body, which houses the explosive charge, and can be removed and reloaded for repeated use (in order to reduce the costs normally associated with flashbangs, especially in training). The grenade's distinctive rectangular profile is meant to prevent it from rolling, and to ensure that it lands in a consistent orientation (i.e. one of the two flat sides down) - this is why it only has holes on two sides, instead of all around like most stun grenades - the intent being to direct the explosion exclusively upwards and downwards, minimizing the risk of objects on the floor being turned into shrapnel; the (proprietary) explosive mixture used in the EDD is also meant to generate less heat than a typical flashbang, so as to reduce the chance of it starting a fire.
