Such is Life in the Tropics (original Spanish title: Sin muertos no hay carnaval, English: Without the Dead, There is No Carnival) is a 2016 Ecuadorian-Mexican-German drama directed by Sebastian Cordero. It was submitted as Ecuador's entry for Best Foreign Language film at the 2017 Academy Awards.

In Guayaquil, Ecuador, a wealthy young man faces the arduous task of evicting 250 families that are squatting on his family's land. While at first hoping for a peaceful resolution, a stray bullet sets off a tragic chain of events.
