Two Arabian Knights

Two Arabian Knights is a 1927 American Adventure-Comedy movie directed by Lewis Milestone. 1918, the two Doughboys Phelps and Sergeant O'Gaffrey are captured by the Germans. Their attempts to escape are unsuccessful. Only when they disguise themselves as Arabs are they able to escape. They are to travel to Jaffa on a river steamer. With the ship's captain, the two soldiers vie for the favor of the Arab Mirza. In Jaffa, Mirza's fiancé Shevket is alerted by a servant to the two Americans, whom he is giving a hard time.
At the first Academy Awards in 1929, Lewis Milestone was awarded the Oscar for Best Director. Since only in 1929 was the Oscar for best director award in the two categories of drama and comedy (a division that was abolished a year later), Milestone is the only director ever to have received an Oscar in this category.

Krag-Jørgensen M1899
American soldiers including Phelps can be seen with rifles in No Man's Land which according to the length and the attached bayonet appear to be Krag-Jørgensen Model 1899 Constabulary Carbines.
Mauser Karabiner 98AZ
Some Arabic and German soldiers are armed with Mauser 98AZ Artillery Carbines. O'Gaffney wields a captured carbine at the end of the movie.
Krag-Jørgensen M1896
Krag-Jørgensen M1896 rifles are also used by Arabic and German soldiers standing in for correct Mauser Gewehr 1898 and 1903 Turkish Mauser rifles.
