The Dragon Hunt (Original title: Охота на дракона, Okhota na drakona) is a 1986 Soviet-Nicaraguan (In Nicaragua, it is known as "La Caza del dragón") political detective. US intelligence agencies are trying to overthrow the revolutionary government of the fictional Central American Republic of Guadiana. For this, a secret training ground has been built on the territory of the neighboring state of Santo Rico, which is used to control the so-called "climate weapons". These weapons cause hurricanes of enormous force that fall upon Guadiana and destroy the country's economy. To study the causes of hurricanes, the Soviet meteorologist Said Khodzhaev arrives in Guadiana. To prevent this, a sabotage group led by Colonel Bert penetrates the territory of the republic.

This film has not been restored, so it is of moderate video quality.

Assault Rifles

L1A1

Soldiers chasing an agent at the border, are visible carrying rifles of the FN FAL pattern. Although they are not visible very well, they seem to have long barrels, which rather makes them L1A1s (which can also be seen in a number of Soviet films). In shooting scenes, they switches to mocked-up StG-44s (see below).
