Smith & Wesson Model 320 Revolving Rifle
The Smith & Wesson Model 320 Revolving Rifle is a revolving rifle manufactured from 1879 to 1887. It has a single-action mechanism and a 6-round cylinder, both adapted from the Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 revolver. It was chambered for a unique .32 caliber blackpowder centerfire cartridge designated 320 S&W (also known as .320 S&W rifle and .320 Revolving Rifle). The stock was designed to be detachable. It was available in blue or nickel finish and optional factory-mounted scope. The rifle was unpopular due to the tendency of hot gas and burning powder particles to be emitted from the cylinder gap and injuring the shooter. Less than 1000 were produced.
