The Orita M1941 (original Romanian name "Md. 1941 Orita géppisztoly") is a Romanian submachine gun. It was named after Capt. Marin Orița, who was the chief of the project (the actual designers of this weapon were Czech engineer Leopold Jašek and Romanian Nicolae Sterca). The Orita SMG entered service in 1943. It was manufactured by the Cugir weapon factory until the 1960s, when it was replaced by the PM md. 63. A simplified version of the Orita appeared in 1948. In this modification, the Orita was manufactured with either wooden stock, like the previous model, or folding metal stock and has only a full auto fire mode. Orita SMGs were used by the Romanian Army until the 1960s while the paramilitary organization "Gărzile Patriotice" ("The Patriotic Guard") used Oritas into the 1970s.
