Van Zant's shotgun is without a doubt a Mossberg 500, the pistol grips alone are not nearly enough to prove otherwise. You can see the Mossberg 500 has a different magazine tube, different ejection port, reciever tang mounted safety, and no follower guide like an 870 would have. Plus, the markings seen on the bottom of the gun as Van Zant loads it are exactly the same as on my Mossberg Cruiser. - Gunmaster45
