True Romance Christian Slater as Clarence and Patricia Arquette as Alabama, two young newlyweds who decide to travel to Los Angeles to sell off a suitcase full of cocaine that they took off Alabama's drug-dealing pimp. In their journey, they are pursued by both the mob and law enforcement. The film was directed by Tony Scott from a screenplay by Quentin Tarantino , the very first that he sold to Hollywood. The cast includes Gary Oldman , Dennis Hopper , Brad Pitt , Samuel L. Jackson , James Gandolfini , and Christopher Walken .
