Dardick Model 1500 - .38 Tround

The Dardick Model 1500 is an unique American magazine-fed revolver designed by David Dardick in 1949. One of the unique features of this revolver are its used of "trounds" - triangular polymer casings designed to stack efficiently inside the magazine and be easier to be picked up by the cylinder. The revolver has a thirteen round integral magazine that feeds from a loading gate on the left side of the receiver. The cylinder, while having exposed chambers in order to pick up trounds from the magazine, is fully enclosed inside of the receiver in order to contain the gas pressure. Trounds are picked up by the left chamber, fired from the top chamber, and ejected from the right chamber.

The base concept behind the Dardick was originally intended for machineguns as a cost-effective and mechanically simpler system compared to contemporary systems; sales of the revolver would've funded further research for the machinegun, but due to its bulk, proprietary ammunition, and overall lack of interest in a novelty weapon design, the Dardick failed commercially.
