Interesting story on the MP-155 Ultima

According to IGN, a game company named Ward B is accusing the Kalashnikov Concern of stealing the design of one of their fictional guns for the design of the MP-155 Ultima. Ward B, who are developing this game called Oceanic, was contacted by a "producer of industrial projects" for multiple companies, including Kalashnikov Concern, for their fictional EPM28 Mastodon shotgun to be made into a real gun kit for the MP-155. The discussions didn't result in a deal, but the appearance of the MP-155 Ultima convinced Ward B that Kalashnikov copied their design.

I would also like to use this opportunity to ask: why the fuck does the MP-155 Ultima even exist? Who is it designed for? --Wuzh (talk) 21:15, 7 December 2021 (EST)

Yeah, I see their point. Obviously, Kalashnikov took inspiration from this thing but the key word here is "inspiration". Their design has enough differences to be considered non-infringing such as different trigger guard, different stock shape, different rear sight, handguard and so on. --Nanomat (talk) 22:19, 7 December 2021 (EST)
That, my friend, is called "legally distinct differences", it's how Rockstar gets away with making the cars in GTA V look almost exactly the same as the real ones without getting sued. --yocapo32 (talk) 01:18, 22 December 2021 (EST)
About your second question Wuzh, I think it's meant for competition and sporting usage. Not really too different from raced-out pistols, competition ARs, or those kitted-out Vepr shotguns. --AgentGumby (talk) 12:07, 22 December 2021 (EST)
