Labora Fontbernat M1938
The Labora Fontbernat M-1938 is a submachine gun, developed in the Second Catalan Republic in 1936. It is worth noting that in fact it weapon actually consist of two different variations - Labora and Fontbernat (also sometimes called Olot for the place of production) SMGs, the first was produced for their own needs by the workshops of anarchists from the CNT (Confederación Nacional del Trabajo - National Confederation of Labor) in Barcelona, the second - on factory number 15 in the city of Olot. The main production was from the beginning of 1937 to August 1938, after which the production facilities were reoriented to the mass production of Mauser carbines. It is believed that a little over 2,000 units were produced. They were subsequently also used by pro-Franco forces.
The presence of these submachine guns in post-war surpluses led to their somewhat unusual role - they often appear in productions filmed in Spain, modified to resemble Thompson submachine guns, and additionally adapted for firing some kind of cinematic blank charges (like acetyline or flashpaper). There are two versions of these pseudo-Thompsons in use, one heavily modified and outwardly almost indistinguishable from the original gun, and the second, which is only equipped with forend and fake Cutts conpensator.
