Cloud Atlas is a 2012 science fiction film directed by The Wachowskis and stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Keith David and Hugo Weaving.Adapted from the 2004 novel by David Mitchell, the movie has multiple plots occurring during six different eras in time. The cast members play different characters in all the storyline with the exception of James D'Arcy who plays the same character as a young man and old man in the 1936 and 1973 storylines. The book's author ,David Mitchell, described the overall story as "a sort of pointillist mosaic." Cloud Atlas is one of the most expensive independent movies ever produced.
