The New Template

I think it should be like this:

The Uzi Submachine gun has appeared in the following:'

Film

The new template as created by PhoenixEnt

Used by While Playing In the movie Date of film
Laurence Fishburne Jimmy Jump King of New York 1990

The layouts below are the type being used at this time on several pages. It will be the standard layout for now. The Note spacing has been increased. -Phoenixent

All layouts now 950 width so once info is put in the columns it will all look the same size.-Phoenixent
Actor Character Title Note Date
Laurence Fishburne Jimmy Jump King of New York Satin Nickel 1990

Television

Actor Character Show Title / Episode Note Air Date
Joe Flanigan Lt. Col. John Sheppard Stargate Atlantis 2004 - 2009

Anime

Character Film Title Note Date
Nadie El Cazador de la Bruja 2007 -
Several Characters Black Lagoon 2006

Video Games

Game Title Mods Passwords Release Date
Call of Duty: World at War 2008
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Can be unlocked via password 2008

And if it's a television show it should be "In the Television Show"

And if it's a Video Game it should be "In the Video Game"

And the same applies to the "Date of Film/Television Show/ Video Game".

What do you guys think?-Oliveira 21:20, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Actually, we could just say "Title", and that would work just as well. Other than that, I think the columns as MPM has named them work best. Of course, the first two columns would simply be excised from any video game page. Remember, we want it to be as simple and easy to standardize as possible. -MT2008 21:31, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I wanted the templates to be more specific. The two columns would be exercised from video game pages though which is why this template isn't perfect. I still think the more specific version is better.-Oliveira 21:40, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I dunno, I just don't see much advantage to being so specific. Whereas I worry that some users will ignore the format if they try making new pages (it sounds unbelievable, I know, but people really can be lazy when it comes to following page conventions - look how many people I've had to tell to either use gun page links on their movie pages, or not put the gun page links in the heading). -MT2008 21:48, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Users ignoring page formats is always worrying. I like being specific. I always specific in my life. The template being specific makes it look more professional.-Oliveira 21:58, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I'll be sure to give this a try next time I make a gun page. I'm not a huge fan of change though, but this definately looks more professional than before. Oh, and looking at how to do this, I think I'll have to copy and paste from this page, because I can't remember all that greek. There isn't anyway this could be turned into an actual template, is there? - Gunmaster45
I think there is but i'm not sure.-Oliveira 22:14, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I added the set up for TV, Anime and Video Games. I think the a notes column needs to be added but I am not sure were to place it. -Steve
Mods? I don't get it.-Oliveira 22:25, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Mods are modification or upgrades used during the game play or unlocked during the game. -Steve
Oh, you mean like in the case of MGS4, cheats?-Oliveira 22:39, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
More like 1911 changing to a hi-cap 1911 as in Godfather.-Steve
Like upgrades then? I'm sorry but i'm being annoying aren't i?-Oliveira 22:45, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Exactly like an upgrade, No problem on the questions it all new to this layout. -Steve
Thank you for not thinking that i am annoying. I can see how being specific can complicate things however.-Oliveira 22:53, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

OK, I think I like the way this is shaping up a bit better. The only thing I would recommend is that we widen the "Note" column a bit more. For instance, on the Calico page, the "Note" column would say "as the M1-L1 Triple Pulse rifle" for the movie Deep Rising. As the column is now, it would be a bit too narrow to fit that text in. -MT2008 02:12, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
What is Satin Nickel?-Oliveira 16:21, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Satin Nickel is a finish of nickel that is dulled by bead blasting the metal prior to having the item nickel plated. Makes it look like stainless steel but wit a white/yellow tint. The SP89/MP5K on Speed were satin nickel so are some Colt MKIV Series 70 pistols.-Steve
Thanks Steve, good info as usual. :)
Now,here is a visual comparison for those folks don't know what a finish is.

They don't look all that different. The Stainless Steel finish is MUCH more durable and will last much longer.
Here is a bright nickel finish (and the most difficult to PHOTOGRAPH) it's almost like photographing into a mirror....

Bright Nickel Auto Ord M1911
Here is a bright stainless finish (and the 2nd most difficult to PHOTOGRAPH) I had to pick my Model 66 since it was really the only bright Stainless handgun I had, the so called bright Stainless semiautos were only semi bright. I consider a a gun to have a bright finish when I can clearly see my own reflection in the gun.

Jesus, Satin guns are really ugly. They are really cheap looking. Anyway, i think the templates should be more specific. Like the ones in the Daewoo K3 Page. Instead of Satin Nickel it should be the "The Gun was painted with Satin Nickel.".-Oliveira 17:02, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Now you're getting annoying ;) No one PAINTS a gun with satin nickel. Satin nickel is an accepted finish, like bright nickel, stainless steel, parkerized, blued, matte blued, etc. And the opinion that a gun is ugly simply because it has a satin nickel finish is purely in the eye of the beholder MPM
Oh, i didn't now that. Then what is called the act of making giving a gun a finish? I just find then cheap looking. That's all.-Oliveira 17:59, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Sorting

Part of the reason I like the idea of tables is that I think it will encourage us to SORT movies on gun/actor pages, which is a much better and more organized way of doing things. I think we should arrange all tables by the date of the movie/TV show/video game/whatever, and then by title. Though maybe titles would be simpler, but what do you guys think? -MT2008 02:24, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

I would sort by date as you can see when the weapon came in to use and on the actors page the weapons used over their career from beginning to end. The many thing is to get to a standard as soon as possible so we don't have pages done then have to redo them. -Phoenixent
