Texas Across the River is an American 1966 comedy Western movie directed by Michael Gordon. In 1845 in Louisiana the wedding of a Spanish nobleman Don Andrea Baldazar (Alain Delon) and local belle Phoebe Ann Naylor (Rosemary Forsyth) is planned. But after another Phoebe Ann's suitor dies due to an accident, Andrea is falsely accused of murder. He has to flee to Texas, not yet a US state, where Phoebe Ann would join him. In Texas Andrea meets a trek guide Sam Hollis (Dean Martin), and together they underwent numerous adventures, until the happy end for both men, Phoebe Ann and an Indian maiden Lonetta (Tina Aumont) whom Sam and Andrea saved.
The following weapons were used in the film Texas Across the River:
In several scenes Sam Hollis' Indian companion Kronk (Joey Bishop) carries a Colt 1851 Navy with a cartridge conversion (definitly a modern replica). Later he gives his revolver to Don Andrea Baldasar (Alain Delon) who needs a gun for a duel with Sam. It's worth noting that all revolvers in the film are anachronisms for 1845.
As a result of a continuity error, Sam Hollis (Dean Martin) holds a Colt 1860 Army revolver during the confrontation with two Comanches (in previous scenes he is seen with a Colt 1860 (Richards Conversion) or a Remington 1858). It turns out to be a cartridge version, but not a Richards or Richards-Mason conversion. Same looking revolver, except for the lack of the lever, is seen in hands of a Texan townsman.
Remington 1858 New Army (Cartridge Conversion)
In most scenes Kronk (Joey Bishop) is armed with a Remington 1858 New Army (Cartridge Conversion) revolver; due to continuity errors in several scenes this revolver is substituted with a Colt 1851. In one scene Sam Hollis (Dean Martin) holds a Remington instead of his common Colt 1860. A Remington 1858 is also seen in hands of a Texan townsman.
Single Action Army Cavalry Model (Mocked Up as Remington 1858 New Army)
In one scene two Percussion Cap Pistols are seen in hands of Sam Hollis (Dean Martin). A pistol of different model is hidden in a bouquet of flowers that Lonetta (Tina Aumont) tried to pass to arrested Andrea.
Trapdoor Springfield Rifle (visually modified as percussion cap rifles)
Trapdoor Springfield Rifles, fitted with long forearms and custom buttstocks to resemble Hawken rifles or some other similar hunting guns, are used in several scenes, seen in hands of Kronk (Joey Bishop) and some townspersons.
Trapdoor Springfield Rifle (visually modified as percussion cap carbine)
Percussion cap rifles of several versions are used by Andrea (Alain Delon), Sam (Dean Martin), and Yellow Knife (Linden Chiles), the son of Comanche war chief Iron Jacket.
Andrea's Percussion Cap Rifle
In most scenes Andrea carries a percussion cap rifle with the full-length handguard, similar to the one of Jaeger Rifles.
When Andrea rides to save Lonetta, he holds a different long gun, also with percussion cap lock but with longer barrel and with a brass patchbox on the buttstock.
Sam's Percussion Cap Rifle
Sam lends his rifle to Andrea during the shooting contest when Andrea runs out of ammunition for his own gun. Sam is later seen with this rifle in the night scene.
