Cheers was the NBC television sitcom series created by Glen Charles, Les Charles, and James Burrows than ran from 1982 to 1993. Ted Danson stars as the iconic character Sam Malone, a former Boston Red Sox relief pitcher and recovered alcoholic who manages and tends the bar Cheers. The series initially starts off with primarily following the development of the on again, off-again relationship between Sam and Diane Chambers (portrayed by Shelly Long), a recent Boston University graduate who reluctantly becomes a Cheers waitress after being abandoned at the bar by her ex-fiance. After Long's departure from the series at the end of Season 5 in 1987, the series introduced her "replacement" Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley), a career businesswoman serving as Cheers' manager suffering from insecurity issues, particularly with her penchant for dating rich men.
In addition, the show also explores several aspects of the lives of Cheers' bartenders, waitresses, and regular patrons, including Woody's (Woody Harrelson) developing relationship with the rich and sheltered girl Kelly Gaines (Jackie Swanson), Carla's distrustful hostility towards her irresponsible ex-husband Nick Tortelli (Dan Hedaya), and many others.
During its run, Cheers became one of the most popular television shows in America, having accrued 111 Emmy Award nominations and winning 28 of them. The success of Cheers eventually lead to the creation of a successful spin-off featuring Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) called Frasier.
The following weapons were used in the miniseries Cheers:
Colt Detective Special
At the beginning of "Homicidal Ham" (S2E4), Andy Schroeder (Derek McGrath) attempts to rob Cheers with a Colt Detective Special before carelessly goading about lowering his guard, allowing Sam (Ted Danson) and Carla (Rhea Perlman) to disarm and restrain him. In "Birth, Death, Love and Rice" (S4E1), Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) uses his Colt Detective Special in an attempt to intimidate Sam while informing Sam about the outcome of his proposed marriage to Diane in Italy.
Single Action Army
In "Fairy Tales Can Come True" (S3E4), Sam Malone (Ted Danson) carries two holstered nickeled Single Action Armys with pearl grips as part of his cowboy halloween costumes.
