Nero Wolfe is a 2012 Italian TV series, adapted from the novels by Rex Stout about the famous private detective Nero Wolfe. The plot is set in 1959 in Rome where Wolfe and his assistant Archie Goodwin move from New York after a conflict with FBI (said conflict is described in the novel The Doorbell Rang though the following self-exile to Italy is a non-canon). Eight novels were adapted in feature-length episodes: Fer-de-Lance, Champagne for One, The Golden Spiders, The Rubber Band, Gambit, If Death Ever Slept, The Red Box, and Over My Dead Body.
The series is a second Italian screen adaptation of Nero Wolfe stories after the 10-part 1969–71 series.
The following weapons were used in the television series Nero Wolfe:
A nickel-plated top-break hammerless revolver is seen in a flashback scene in "La traccia del serpente" (E01) when Nero Wolfe recreates the murder that happened in the house that he rents. Same revolver is then seen during the opening credits in every episode. The gun is seen not very clear but the shape of the frame allows to guess that it is very possibly an Iver Johnson Safety Automatic.
In the opening scene in "Principessa Orchidea" (E03) a man in the car (later revealed as Matteo Corbie (uncredited)) holds a lady at gunpoint with a Smith & Wesson Military & Police revolver.
Archie Goodwin (Pietro Sermonti) uses Beretta Model 70 in "La traccia del serpente" (E01), "La scatola rossa" (E07), and he also carries a Beretta Model 70 in holster in "Il patto dei sei" (E04) but in the climactic scene Archie draws a Beretta M1934 (see below). In the final scene in "Parassiti" (E06) Otto Bertola (Alessandro Haber) shoots himself with a Beretta Model 70.
Beretta M1934 pistols are used in the climactic scene in "Il patto dei sei" (E04) by Archie Goodwin (Pietro Sermonti) and Repaci (Fabrizio Contri). Archie Goodwin also holds a Beretta M1934 in "Parassiti" (E06). A pistol that is claimed to be a 7.65mm Beretta M1935 is the murder weapon in this episode (though at first a Beretta M1951 is show (see below)).
A Beretta M1951 is a service gun of the security guard Antonio Sgroi (Corrado Solari) in "Il patto dei sei" (E04). In "Parassiti" (E06) Otto Bertola (Alessandro Haber) owns a Beretta M1951 that he calls a Beretta M1935, his war memory. Bertola's gun is then used to kill Luigi Zanna, and during the investigation police expert claims that the murder weapon is in 7.65mm Browning caliber and may be a Beretta M1935. In the final scene the murder gun really switches to a Beretta M1934/1935.
