The Turncoat is a 2020 four-part film drama directed by Florian Gallenberger (John Rabe, Colonia) based on the novel of the same name by Siegfried Lenz. Summer 1944: Wehrmacht soldier Walter Proska has to go back to the Eastern Front. There he ends up with the unit of Willy Stehauf, a ruined bunch that fights in vain in the swamps of Rokitno against mosquitoes, partisans, and gradual madness. His officer's cruelty, his regime-critical comrade Wolfgang, but above all his love for partisan Wanda, also make Walter increasingly doubt the meaning of the war.
The following weapons can be seen in the miniseries The Turncoat:
The leader of the partisan group is seen with a Walther P38.
Submachine Guns
MP40
MP40 are used by Stehauf and some partisans in Episode 2.
PPSh-41
PPSh-41 submachine guns with 35-stick and 71-drum magazines are used by Soviet Soldiers. Zwiczosbirski (Adam Venhaus) brings two captured PPShs to Stehauf. In the third episode, Walter uses a PPSh against some Volkssturm members.
PPS-43
Some PPS-43 submachine guns are also used by Soviet soldiers in Episode 3.
