The Killer Elite is a 1975 thriller directed by Sam Peckinpah and stars James Caan as Mike Locken, a covert operative with a mercenary organization that completes assignments for a mysterious communications corporation. After enduring a betrayal that left him disabled, Locken decides to recruit some of his former associates to take a job in order to exact revenge. When Locken asks why he did that, Jerome identifies the handgun the officer carried as a "9 millimeter Star" and says that SFPD only packs "regulation Smith & Wesson .38's". During the harbor shootout, Mac (Burt Young) is seen with a bright nickel Star Model B, likely standing in for his M1911A1.
Submachine Guns
(Fake) Uzi (mocked up MAC-10)
Jerome Miller (Bo Hopkins) is seen using a MAC-10 that has been visually modified to resemble the Uzi. The SMG is fitted with Uzi barrels, front and rear sights, and a folding stock. This was one of the earliest films to use this particular type of mockup, and similar prop weapons were used in several other Hollywood movies, including The Dogs of War,Stripes and Raw Deal (1986).
