Ip Man
Ip Man is a 2008 Hong Kong martial arts film starring Donnie Yen as the title character, the martial artist who eventually become the master of Bruce Lee. The film revolves around his time in Foshan during the Japanese occupation of China. Ip Man is only indirectly a biography and takes a lot of creative license in portraying the events around his time there. Donnie Yen would return in the 2010 sequel Ip Man 2 and Ip Man 3, the third film in the film series, was released in 2015.
The following weapons were used in the film Ip Man:
Nambu Type 14
The sidearm of the Japanese Colonel Sato (Shibuya Tenma) is a Nambu Type 14 pistol. It is used twice throughout the film. First to shoot a fighter after an arena match, the second time during the film's climax. Note that the one in the movie has a fully rounded trigger guard unlike the one pictured in the preview image provided below. In several scenes a rubber prop was used in place of the real Nambu Type 14.
Arisaka Type 38
The primary weapon of all Japanese soldiers is the Type 38 Arisaka rifle.
Tranter 1879
Li Zhao´s (Gordon Lam Ka-tung) weapon during his time as police officer appears to be a Tranter 1879. If one goes by the scene of Ip Man knocking the cylinder out of the weapon frame by frame, one can see that it is connected to a wire, which was used to quickly pull it out of the revolver.
