Baikal Pump Action Shotgun Series
The first Izhmekh pump-action shotgun was the IZh-21, clone of the Remington 870, introduced in 1960s (circa in 1964). As of current knowledge this model was produced until at least late 1970s in small numbers. The number of shotguns actually produced remains uncertain.
In the late 1980s was introduced a IZh-80 pump-action shotgun. It could use two type of magazines: under-barell 4-round tube magazine, and the additional 4-round detachable box magazines (at its junction, the feeding began to go out of it). IZh-80 is was designed specifically for the Soviet military. Although it was produced in small numbers, and even then officially officially put to service, no further orders followed, and it was discontinued.
Baikal IZh-81 is was developed in 1993, based on the IZh-80. It was the first Russian pump-action shotgun which went into the mass production, for compete with export shotguns. IZh-81 was serially produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant from 1994 to 2000.
In the 1996, the IZh-80 was "rediscovered" as the IZH-82 shotgun (also known as the "Baikal MP-131K"). The MP-131K also featured the choice of feeding system, is carried out with selector on the detachcable magazine. The MP-131K was introduced for commercial sales, but never gained popularity, and was eventually also discontinued.
Baikal MP-133 appeared in 2000 as an modernized version of the IZh-81. It is similar, but has an adapter for magazine extenders.
Baikal MP-135 is an updated version of the MP-133, introduced in 2013.
