Los-4 hunting rifle - 7.62х51mm

Los (Moose) is Soviet/Russian hunting rifle designed by A. Shesterikov and M. Blume and produced by Izhmash from 1965. Main modifications are:

  • Los-1 in 9x53mm (produced in 1965-1976)
  • Los-4 in 7.62x51mm (produced in 1977-1991)
  • Los-7 in .308 (produced from 1991)
  • Los-9 in 9.3x64mm (Los-9-1), .30-06 (Los-9-2) and 7x65mm (Los-9-3) (produced from 1990s)

Izhmash AVL target rifle - 7.62x54mmR "Extra"

AVL (AV stands for "Armeyskaya Vintovka" ("Army-style rifle" as opposite to small caliber target rifles), L stands for "Los") is a target rifle, based on Los and chambered for 7.62x54mmR "Extra". It was manufactured in 1972-1978 and used on shooting contests, including Olympic Games, until the rules changed and rifles were limited to small caliber only. Some AVLs are still used as hunting rifles though they are quit rare.
